Pacific Meeting on the Psychology of Social Change
Santiago, Chile, December 13-14, 2018
The meeting will bring together political and social psychologists and social scientists from around the Pacific Rim and beyond in order to discuss research agendas conducted in Latin America and other countries of the Pacific region related to social change especially post-conflict peace and reconciliation processes, collective action, immigration, globalization, diversity and the rights of indigenous peoples.
We hope to bring together a group of around 35 researchers, including doctoral students, and more senior scholars (i.e., with PhDs including early career researchers) and reinforce research connections in the Pacific region.
This event is support by the International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP), the Chilean Society of Psychological Science (SCP), the Center for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES) and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
PROGRAM
The program will involve small group paper presentations (20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions), one or two poster sessions, and two public lectures/ debates on topical matters.
Senior scholars will be encouraged to attend and provide feedback on a specified number of posters in their area of expertise to ensure that there is a positive developmental experience for PhD students.
We hope that the public lectures will be available in English with a Spanish translation and that this content can be made available in video or audio format.
Once the event is over, we will share the videos with public conferences will be broadcast. Additionally, public lectures that have been given in English will have subtitles in Spanish.
REGISTRATION
Registration fees from senior scholars will be reinvested to fund travel bursaries (which will cover part of the travel expenses or accommodation in Santiago) for 5 students who are currently enrolled in doctoral programs in Psychology or Social Sciences at Latin American universities outside Santiago.
Registration fee: To be determined after funding sources are finalized. Nevertheless, the fee will be a maximum of US$250 for Senior Scholars. There will be no fee for PhD Students (with or without bursary) but places are limited.
SUBMISSION
If you wish to present a paper or poster please send a title (less than 15 words), an abstract (maximum of 250 words) and author (s) with institutional affiliation to Craig McGarty () or to Anna Wlodarczyk, () before August 31, 2018.
Papers and posters will be presented in English. If we do manage to provide simultaneous translation, some papers could be presented in Spanish. All posters must be presented in English.
PhD students who wish to apply for travel bursary should send their application no later than September 24, 2018, indicating the amount of the requested resource together with the application.

Caveat: This meeting has been made possible with significant financial support from ISPP. It is definitely open to persons who are not members of ISPP but it is our expectation that a majority of participants will be members of ISPP.
