Our most recent project is an app for the Android (dowloadable here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.wligtenberg.inmind.quiz&hl=en) and iPhone (downloadable here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/social-knowledge-the-game/id561508167?mt=8) called Social Knowledge: The Game. SocialK, as it is called in brief, contains 365 daily true/false questions based on psychological research findings. To date, over 1500 people have downloaded the app.
To ensure continuation of the app, we now seek one editor-in-chief and one intern to support this project.
Job Position 1:
Position Title: Editor-in-Chief In-Mind App
Job Summary:
Editors-in-chief are responsible for soliciting statements from journals. These statements will be inserted after the current 365 statements created by our previous quiz team. We anticipate that usage of the app leads to greater attention to our own website and to journal articles, by a lay audience and fellow scientists. The Editor-in-chief consults with the In-Mind board to appoint fellow editors and proof readers, and will consult with our app developers to import statements, explanations, and references according to the present format. Summary of Essential Job Functions:
· – Solicit statements from journals
· – Appoint an editorial team, responsible for creating a minimum of 365 statements yearly
· – Aid in planning, organizing, and implementing activities to assist with the mission and vision of the magazine
· – Represents the general membership on issues of interest or concern
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
· – Ph. D. student (or higher) in Psychology (preferably Social Psychology)
· – Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
· – Work effectively toward common goals as a team member
· – Identify potential problems and opportunities
· – Special attention will be devoted to those suggesting creative implementations of the app (leading to increased usage, without needing a reprogramming of the app).
Job Position 2:
Position Title: Intern for Social Psychology Videos Project
Job Summary:
In-Mind works with a number of interns, whose work is essential in supporting ongoing projects. The intern we seek to be involved with Social Psychology Videos project will be supporting a fundraising campaign which will enable the creation of a series of social psychology videos. Summary of Job Functions:
(Essential)
· – Assist the responsible Editor in sourcing relevant material that will be – used in the creation of the fundraising campaign (social psychology quotations, images etc.)
· – Work with the Editor in promoting the fundraising campaign
· – Generally to aid in planning, organizing, and implementing any other activities relevant to the Videos project
(Desirable)
· – Create content for the campaign (drawings, cartoons, digital art, videos)
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
· – Psychology student with a keen interest in Social Psychology
· – Commitment to make academic content more accessible to a wider audience
· – Interest and familiarity with using visual digital media (images, videos, etc.) in order to communicate scientific concepts
The following are not essential, but we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with:
· – Skills and experience of creating digital visual content (e.g., drawings, cartoons, digital art, videos etc.)
· – Online fundraising experience
