Highlights of SASP attendance at 2024 EASP Summer School

In 2024 SASP provided three postgraduates funding to attend the 2024 European Association of Social Psychology (EASP) Summer School in Košice, Slovakia, July 8-19. Up to AUD$1,700 was available per student to help with fees, registration, and expenses.

The opportunity has seen Axel Chemke-Dreyfus, Alena Bondarchuk-McLaughlin, and Matthew Mackay win research funding, build research collaborations, and build lifelong friendships.

Read what they had to say about the experience below.

The EASP Summer School was two-weeks filled with keynote speakers, specialised workshops, and social activities, including a winery visit and a guided city tour in Košice and surrounding Slovakia. The Summer School expanded our understanding of global sociopolitical issues through discussions with senior academics and fellow students. The program facilitated lifelong friendships, and we look forward to seeing them again at conferences like the EASP general meeting and SASP 2024. Dancing, potatoes, karaoke, talent shows, and the World Cup were some of the highlights outside of research activities.

We are also continuing research collaborations that began during the Summer School that has already resulted in a successful application funding through the EASP SeedCorn grant.
