Congratulations to the SASP 2024 Outstanding Postgraduate Research Award recipients

The SASP Outstanding Postgraduate Research Awards (OPRA) highlight outstanding student research conducted by postgraduate student members of SASP.

In 2024, five finalists were selected based on the merits of a written application to present their research at SASP 2024 in Canberra on Monday 25th November. Three awards were on offer – First Place ($500), Runner-up ($250), and inaugural People’s Choice ($250). The First Place and Runner-Up awards were decided by an anonymous panel based on the original application and conference presentation.

This year’s OPRA session was by far the most competitive I’ve seen in the 10 years I’ve been part of the judging panel. Indeed, the judges had a truly difficult decision in front of us—both when narrowing down the exceptional applications to the 5 presenters you saw at SASP, and when identifying this year’s recipients. The OPRA session is always my favourite part of SASP, and this year was no exception—the quality of this year’s speakers was simply unparalleled!
