Congratulations to Simon Bury (Flinders University) for winning the Outstanding Postgraduate Researcher Award. Simon’s presentation was on the psychology of hope. Also, congratulations to the runners up, Sam Stronge (University of Auckland) and Melissa Chang (University of Queensland), as well as the other finalists Laura Ferris, Yasin Koc, and Rachel Maunder.

2016:

Congratulations to UNSW’s Khandis Blake for winning the Outstanding Postgraduate Researcher Award, and to University of Queensland’s Charlie Crimston and Lydia Hayward for being runners up in an extremely competitive field.

2015:

Congratulations to Jasmine Fardouly from the University of New South Wales for receiving the 2015 SASP Outstanding Postgraduate Research Award. Jasmine’s presentation was titled, “Social comparisons on social media: Facebook’s impact on young women’s body image and mood”. Jasmine is supervised by A/Prof Lenny Vartanian. The runner-up was Michael Thai (University of Queensland).

2014:

Congratulations to Nicholas Harris from the University of Newcastle for receiving the 2014 SASP Outstanding Postgraduate Research Award. Nicholas’s presentation was titled, “Now and then: A learning approach to episodic and chronic intergroup anxiety”. Nicholas is supervised by Dr Stefania Paolini and Dr Andrea Griffin. The runners up were Isabel Rossen (University of Western Australia) and Joel Anderson (Australian Catholic University).

2013:

Congratulations to Lauren Hall from Murdoch University for receiving the 2013 SASP Outstanding Postgraduate Research Award for her work on “Gendered perceptions of ambition: Communal behaviours, colective goals and androgyny”. Lauren is supervised by A/Prof Ngaire Donaghue. The runners up were Jason McIntyre (The University of Queensland) and Lillian Smyth (ANU).

2012:

Congratulations to Tim Schofield from the University of New South Wales for receiving the 2012 SASP Outstanding Postgraduate Research Award. Tim’s presentation was titled, “An alternate pathway to successful self-control:  Self-control training reduces detection of distracters”. He is supervised by Dr Tom Denson. The runners up were Hanneke Grutterink (University of Groningen) and Tegan Cruwys (ANU).

2011:

Congratulations to Alexis Whitton from the University of New South Wales for receiving the 2011 SASP Outstanding Postgraduate Research Award for her work on “Disentangling the effects of anger and disgust on moral judgment”. Alexis is supervised by Dr Julie Henry. The runners up were Jeremy Goldring (University of Adelaide) and Katharine Greenaway (University of Queensland).
